4/23 Baseball Round-Up

Only two teams were in action tonight, since the Pirates got rained out.  West Virginia and Altoona both had the night off.  Today's games were Indianapolis Indians vs. Louisville Bats and Bradenton Marauders vs. Jupiter Hammerheads.

Pittsburgh Pirates (6-9) vs. St. Louis Cardinals (11-5) - postponed

AAA: Indianapolis Indians (7-10) lost 4-2 to the Louisville Bats
WP: Chad Reineke (1-0)  S: Jordan Smith (1)  LP: Justin Wilson (1-3)
Indianapolis put together only six hits in the game.  3B Jordy Mercer led the way, going 3 for 3 with a double.  The other three hits came from CF Starling Marte, SS Anderson Hernandez, and 1B Matt Hague.  Mercer and Hernandez drove in the Indians' runs.

AA: Altoona Curve (7-8) had the night off
A+: Bradenton Marauders (7-9) won 8-2 over the Jupiter Hammerheads
WP: Colton Cain (1-1)  S: Quinton Miller (2)  LP: Rob Rasmussen (1-3)
The Marauders had only eight hits in the game, but they made them count.  3B Stefan Welch had a night he would love to repeat.  He pounded two homeruns; a two-run shot in the second inning and a solo shot in the eighth.  They also took advantage of a wild starting pitcher in Rob Rasmussen, who threw four wild pitches.  1B Alex Dickerson also had a two-run HR for the Marauders.

A: West Virginia Power (5-12) had the night off
