4/6 Penguins Round-Up

The Pittsburgh Penguins ended the season on a high note, defeating the Philadelphia Flyers 4-2.  Read more after the jump.

This was a nice statement from the Penguins as they head into a playoff series against these same Philadelphia Flyers.  Joe Vitale had to step up and fight Harry Zolnierczyk for his hits on Danny Briere and Nicklas Grossman last Sunday.  He wiped the ice with him and that was the end of the fighting.  There were a couple misconducts, though.  Zac Rinaldo got a 5 minute major and a game misconduct for a check from behind on Zbynek Michalek.  Jody Shelley got a 10 minute misconduct in the third period. 

As for the scoring in the game, Pascal Dupuis upped his point scoring streak to 17 games with a goal about five minutes into the first period.  Brayden Schenn answered back right before the end of the period.  Chris Kunitz snuck one past Bobrovsky at 7:15 of the second.  The Flyers again answered with a Jagr goal about five minutes later.  The Penguins would take the lead for good with goals from Crosby and Malkin late in the second.  The Malkin goal was big because it was his 50th of the season.  Fleury started the game and looked fairly sharp.  After the Penguins got the 2-1 lead, Johnson came in to finish off the game. This was the first victory by the Penguins over the Flyers at Consol Energy Center.  That should help ease their worries heading into the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals next week.
